What The Halesowen News had to say...

Eventual winners INFINITY MINUS ONE from Earls High followed, impressing the crowd and judges alike with their affable brand of guitar rock, highlighted most impressively by front man Oliver Bennett and set-stopper `Cranberry Bliss'.

A pleasing review by UK RockNet...

Infinity Minus One from Halesowen are the first band on this evening. This one year old guitar based rock quartet features Oliver Bennett on vocals, Jack Higgs on guitar, Rhys Smith on bass and Jamie Stocker on drums. In their time together they have played mainly within the Midlands but are hoping to widen their circle of influence in the near future.

The bands first number, after a pleasantly polite intro is Pain Inside which is a pretty strong rocker that gets the band set off to a good start, and this is followed by a very acceptable cover of the Kinks classic All Day And All Of The Night.
Third number The One is a pretty low key track that adds a good bit of light and shade into the set before we get the slightly funky Cranberry Bliss which has real Cream feel to it.
Another home grown track Indoctrinated Youth is next and by this time I’m pretty impressed by the band. Their ideas are good and solid and they seem to be capable of mixing styles and tempo. The timing is tight and has some clever stops and starts and their playing is pretty damn good too. Jacks’ guitar breaks are fitting and appropriate and Olivers’ vocals suit the material extremely well.

Met Her On The Net is another slow one that comes in to once again break up the set at just the right place before Crash And Burn and Break Free both hit out in a typically rock-metal style that these guys seem to be able to put on like a well loved and well worn leather jacket.
We then get a nostalgia generating Sunshine Of Your Love before final number Stuck, a mixture of rock, punk and metal that finishes the set with plenty of power and drive

I have to say that I’m pretty impressed with Infinity Minus One. They didn’t do any pointless messing about between numbers, had a good professional approach and they played well. Only a couple of criticisms spring to mind. Firstly, with the exception of bassist Rhys the band were pretty static and secondly I would have liked to hear Oliver get some backing vocal support.

Apart from that it was a damn good set that was most enjoyable.
